Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. The actress is American stage and film actor. The most well-known role she has played is in the role of Teri her passionate lawyer Teri Jospehson, on the Showtime television series Soul Food. Following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to for her role as Nikki Kodjoe. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent from childhood. A Maryland high school contest gave her with the award for best actress. She received her degree in acting from the New York University after working in the Washington Ballet Company' and on stage. Her first major role on screen in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love fetched the most respect. This was followed by movies including 'Boogie nights Spark' and Blue Streak. Contractor, born at Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She was already exposed to numerous travel experiences and different cultures at a very early age. She went to boarding school at the age between 7 and 9 years old in London. Later the family returned home to Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she were raised for her entire life. Contractor studied and became a classical dancer in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school that taught more than just dance but also theatre. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to be her career. Dance was her passion for over a decade. When she graduated from high school she was awarded a full award to the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was given the lead part in Pericles after a one-year stint at the University. She was a part of the audition for the role at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. After 92 performances, she received glowing reviews. This play was named one of the most successful productions by Canadian the critics. She was given the chance to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. It accepts only eight men and four women to take a course in classical theater. Contractor eagerly accepted. Her place was guaranteed for the following season of shows She was also offered Hermia's character in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
